The next City of Sydney Historical Association guest lecture will be given by public historian Shirley Fitzgerald, who will talk about the hotels that formed the centre of the community for many in the 19th century.
Shirley Fitzgerald has written two books about pubs in Ultimo and Pyrmont, but also has much to tell about the place of the pub in 19th century Sydney society more generally. Join her and other pub enthusiasts as she sheds light on a fascinating part of Australia’s social history.
Formed in 2000 with the aim of increasing awareness and appreciation of the history of the City of Sydney, COSHA aims to make history more accessible. COSHA regularly organises guided walks, lectures and tours of historic sites and buildings.
