I was President of the Manly, Warringah and Pittwater Historical Society from 2007 to 2016 and was involved in the heritage considerations of the three councils over that 10 year period. While I am familiar with the way federal , state and local governments have dealt with fixed heritage , I think there is a real case for those interested in heritage to improve how heritage addresses Indigenous heritage , parks and gardens ,and marine. All of these aspects relate not only to Fixed Heritage but Movable Heritage, where there are serious shortcomings. The local government ” Themed Histories ” seemed to ignore Movable Heritage and as a result give little space to Commercial Heritage.
