Edward ‘Ned’ Trickett was Australia’s first World Champion in any sport. Born at Greenwich, he learned to scull on Sydney Harbour, and by 1875 he was regarded as the best sculler in the colony of New South Wales. In 1876 he became the World Sculling Champion, and was greeted by twenty-five thousand people on his return to Sydney.

The City of Canada Bay Heritage Society warmly invites you to hear Trickett’s great grandson Lyndon Lockrey give a speech on The Life & Times of Edward Trickett

The talk will be followed by light refreshments and a chance to chat with the speaker.
