In late 2011, the State Records Authority of NSW announced the closure of the city reading room effective 30 June 2012. The History Council of NSW believes it is the role of the State’s archival institution to provide access to NSW citizens to the records that document their rights and entitlements and that the closure of the city office should be reassessed.
