The next Sydney Mechanic’s School of the Arts Glamorous Paris talk will feature Walter Mason who will chart the fascinating life of the French icon, Jean Cocteau on Wednesday 11 July.

Has the world ever known a more glamorous, talented and provocative genius than Jean Cocteau? An artist, film maker, author and style icon, Cocteau was prolific and generous throughout his career. He knew just about every famous and fascinating French person alive –  from Proust and Colette to Gertrude Stein and Josephine Baker. Join Walter Mason for a engaging discussion of Jean Cocteau’s wonderful life, his outrageous achievements, his great loves and victories and his sometimes-tormented soul.

Glamorous Paris is a series of talks which explores the fascinating and often glamorous worlds of four of the most fabulous Parisian authors. Jean Cocteau concludes the series, which has previously covered:

  • April 11 — Marcel Proust
  • May 9 — Colette
  • June 27 — Gertrude Stein
