The State Library of NSW offers a number of prestigious and competitive fellowships to support the research and writing of Australian history and culture. They provide money, a room and behind-the-scenes access to Library staff. Topics have ranged from early colonisation through to investigating contemporary life.
Applications are now open for two fellowship opportunities:
- David Scott Mitchell Memorial Fellowship ($12,000) — for the research and writing of Australian history using the Mitchell Library’s collections
- Merewether Fellowship ($12,000) — for the research and writing of 19th century NSW history using the Mitchell Library’s collections.
As a developing centre of digital excellence that sparks creative, intellectual engagement with its resources, the Library’s collections provide depth and stimulus for researchers and is a pre-eminent cultural destination which attracts scholars to explore our past and inform our future.
Other fellowships are open throughout the year to established and early career researchers. Fellowships, which are open to both Australian and international scholars to use, provide access to the Library’s world-class collections.
