Sydney Jewish Museum are holding a teachers training seminar on “Catastrophe and Memory: Remembering Genocide”.
This NESA-Accredited professional development seminar is primarily targeted towards History, English and Legal Studies teachers, and will examine the legacy of genocides perpetrated during the 20th century. It will also engage critically with the idea of memorialisation, memory and history.
The day includes the unique opportunity to hear a conversation between a survivor of the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide, the Cambodian Genocide and a survivor of the Stolen Generation.
There will be a talk by Professor Colin Tatz AO will also speak during the day about the destruction of Australia’s Aboriginal populations and an esteemed panel discussing how the testimony of Holocaust survivors is used today and the problems, questions and opportunities it presents to people grappling with the legacy of the Holocaust
