Join Sydney Living Museums at Vaucluse House for an atmospheric candlelit tour, including a visit to the Wentworth Mausoleum, open after dark for the very first time.
Learn about Victorian mourning rituals and objects as you tour the grand formal rooms of Vaucluse House, then walk to the rarely opened Wentworth Mausoleum for this exclusive evening access. Hear stories of William Charles Wentworth’s extravagant 1873 state funeral – the first ever in NSW – and listen to commentary from the colonial newspapers about the details of this great event.
At the end of the tour, visitors can try their very own ‘funeral cake’ with a glass of wine by the fire.
