#HistoryWeek 2021 event registrations are now open
First launched in 1997 by the History Council of NSW, and now in its 24th year, History Week 2021 will be staged from 4 to 12 September 2021. For History Week 2021 we ask our members to reflect on a period of tumult, and answer the question: “What kind of histories do we most need in our world today to heal the past and usher in fresh hope and possibility for the future?”
Submissions close on Monday, 16 August at 5 pm.
Further details and the online submission form can be found on the webpage.
#annualhistorylecture Unsettled Curators in Conversation
For the 2021 Annual History Lecture, the History Council of NSW is proud to present an “in conversation” discussion between the Australian Museum’s Laura McBride (Director, First Nations) and Dr Mariko Smith (First Nations Curator) who will discuss their curatorial and historiographical approaches to developing and delivering the ground-breaking Unsettled exhibition, on display now at the Australian Museum, Sydney.
Laura and Mariko are pleased to participate in this important event on the annual NSW History Week calendar, where they will reveal the exciting process of presenting a First Nations-led exhibition about the legacy of colonisation, constructions of Australian history and the importance of truth-telling to realise change.
The Annual History Lecture delivered by Laura McBride and Dr Mariko Smith is planned for the evening of 7 September 2021. Further information to come.
2021 History Council Awards now open
The annual History Awards presented by the History Council of NSW are now open. Submissions close on Tuesday, 31 August at 5pm.
Further details and the online submission form can be found on the webpage.
