During History Week 2016, one of the History Council of NSW’s members held a creative exhibition on the pioneer neighbours of their region. Held from Saturday 3 to Sunday 11 September, The Oaks Historical Society Inc. showcased an exhibition developed from contributions from the local schools of Wollondilly Shire. Schools researched pioneers from the Wollondilly Shire and created a visual image of that pioneer on wooden shapes provided by the Historical Society. The 1.2 metre figures were displayed together at the Wollondilly Heritage Centre as a “Pioneerscape.” The Oaks Historical Society Inc. are also collating and adding to the written research about the pioneers to form a catalogue for current and future reference.
