The new season of GLAMcity has arrived! Glamcity is a podcast launched by the Australian Centre for Public History in collaboration with 2SER 107. Join historians Anna Clark and Chelsea Barnett each week as they take you behinds the scenes of Sydney’s most iconic Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums.
On this episode, Anna and Chelsea dive into a curious archive at the Australian Museum. In the late 19th century, the museum started to experiment with strange new technology to capture nature. Zoologist and expeditions, Gerard Krefft began taking photographs of animal specimens for the museum’s collection.
Vanessa Finney, Manager of Archives, Rare Books and Library Collections at the Australian Museum joins the program to discuss the collection, her new book Capturing Nature, and the exhibition of the same name.
