In times of need – some reflections on how the City of Sydney has cared for the community in tough times

Hosted by the City of Sydney

Please join Margaret Betteridge for this special online talk for History Week 2020 that will explore the City of Sydney’s role in getting Sydney through some of its most challenging times.

Curator Margaret Betteridge will delve into the Civic Collection and City Archives to highlight some of the many ways that the City of Sydney has helped its community in times of need and distress. The City of Sydney’s swift response to COVID 19 this year was to provide wide-ranging assistance to the community. Care and compassion have been front and centre of the work by the City of Sydney and builds on a long tradition and a genuine commitment to providing practical assistance and charitable relief to people at home and abroad.

From natural disasters to war, from pandemics to poverty, the City of Sydney and Sydney Town Hall has played an important role in showing just how much people and their needs matter to us in tough times.

This is a free event. Bookings are essential.
