Camden’s Grass Roots – People and Places
Hosted by Camden Library Services
Camden is renowned for its preservation of historic buildings and its wealth of documented stories about early “famous” settlers such as John and Elizabeth Macarthur.
This photographic exhibition is a starting point for looking at Camden’s people and places as the area continuously evolve from “The Cowpastures” to the fastest growing Local Government Area of New South Wales.
Camden’s history consists of many layers of change, ranging from the Tharawal people, convicts, land grants and settlers through to today’s subdivision and rapid population growth. There have been generations of “ordinary” people whose stories help to link the past and present.
These photographs illustrate some of the ways their relationship with their environment has helped to construct the identity of Camden.
