Tales from a rare manuscript – The Settler’s Muster Book 1800

Hosted by NSW Parliament

Nominated for UNESCO Australia’s – Memory of the World Register, The Settler’s Muster Book 1800 is the earliest record of a muster to have survived and a window on the early social history of the colony of NSW. Recorded are details of occupations, ship arrivals, the animals and land people owned but the Muster Book is also valuable for what is left out.

Please join NSW Parliament on the 220th anniversary of this unique manuscript held in the collection of the NSW Parliament. View this rare book and hear from Associate Professor Carol Liston from the University of Western Sydney, who specialises in the history of early New South Wales.

In-person places are limited. The event will also be broadcast on Facebook Live for those unable to attend.
