Callan Park’s History: what is it good for?

Hosted by Friends of Callan Park

Please join Friends of Callan Park for a History Week 2020 event exploring the forgotten histories of Callan Park

The event will feature Dr Stephen Gapps, President History Council, who will consider historical context and relationships between past and present, and Sarah Luke, author of Callan Park, Hospital for the Insane will explore the relationship between Callan Park and Nautical School Ships for boys, Vernon and Sobraon.

Home to marginalised groups today these institutions are generally regarded as ‘awkward’ moments and sometimes deliberately forgotten. Through stories of a Callan Park patient and his son, a Vernon boy, the question is asked what are the benefits of knowing the past at these sites?

This event is free and online.
