How many cemeteries do you think there are in Sydney? More than you might think! Historian Lisa Murray knows – she visited them all over 12 months as part of the research for her new book Sydney Cemeteries: a field guide. 101 individual cemeteries made it into the book, with contemporary photographs, historical overviews and notable burials. Lisa will discuss her book, her Sydney cemetery adventures, and share with you some of her favourite cemeteries and headstones. Sydney Cemeteries: A field guide is published by NewSouth Books. This special event is presented by the History Council of NSW and hosted by Sutherland Shire Library.

Dr Lisa Murray is the City Historian at the City of Sydney Council, overseeing a diverse History Program that encompasses local and community history, civic and municipal history, and urban history.
