The Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences‘ (MAAS) Regional Program includes presentations, workshops, video conferencing and initiatives that support regional NSW collecting organisations and communities. These include:

  • How to Manage your Collection Induction – Three-day Inductions designed for volunteers from regional museums and galleries with limited experience in collection management. Participants gain a basic understanding of the way objects in a large collecting institution are registered, conserved, stored and documented. Two placements are awarded annually through a competitive selection process. Successful applicants receive a three-day living allowance subsidised by MAAS.   • How to Conserve your Collection Workshop – Introductory conservation workshops are designed for regional collecting organisations that maintain a community-owned collection accessible to the public.   • How to Curate Your Collection Workshop – A one-day curator workshop/site visit is designed for regional organisations that maintain a community-owned collection accessible to the public. The workshop/site visit is for organisations that need help with basic skills in developing exhibitions, identifying significant objects and writing statements of significance. A fee applies for a curator workshop/site visit, which is partially subsidised by MAAS. Read the selection criteria (PDF), applications close 5pm, 7 September 2016.
